Google Sheets & Looker Studio
For many small-medium businesses wanting to save money, the Google stack is a feasible yet effective group of applications to optimise business processes. The project below showcases the capability of Google Sheet and LookerStudio (and Google Drive as storage capacity) within the space of employee analytics.
I still love pivoting data and believe so much insights can be derived from using them. Their only downfall, is that they only offer basic visualization capabilities like grouping and subtotaling, they may not provide advanced visualization features available in dedicated data visualization tools.
As an alternative view to reporting using pivots, we can also visualise the data as a dashboard using LookerStudio. Why this is really cool is because its linked directly to the Google Sheet document housing the data, so as the data updates (e.g. a new employee being hired) this will dynamically reflect in the dashboard. The dashboard below is embedded unlike the previous project, so it allows for interactivity, please give it a try!
People Analytics are unbelievably valuable
People analytics, also known as workforce analytics or HR analytics, is invaluable to businesses as it leverages data-driven insights to optimize various aspects of human resource management. By analyzing data on employee performance, engagement, turnover rates, and other relevant metrics, businesses can make informed decisions to improve recruitment strategies, enhance employee satisfaction and retention, and boost overall organizational effectiveness. This strategic approach not only helps businesses align their workforce with company goals but also enables them to identify and address potential challenges proactively, leading to increased productivity, efficiency, and ultimately, competitive advantage in the market.
